4TU.HTM Events

4TU.Energy’s foremost emphasis lies in strengthening the bonds within the community while simultaneously concentrating on research and education. One of the annual activities that serves this purpose is the 4TU. Energy Community Day, which serves as a platform for researchers to forge connections, expand their professional network, and seek inspiration from their peers.

Keynote speaker: Max Welling | 4TU.HTM organizes a joint workshop integrating applications in material discovery into machine learning frameworks. Key challenges are the prediction of crystal structures, the discovery of stable functional molecules, and the rational material design process.

The MaterialenNL Platform announces its first national materials conference. On the 12th of December 2023, the MaterialenNL Conference 2023 will be held at the National Sports Centre Papendal, Arnhem.

On 18 October 2023 the first symposium Additive Manufacturing of Energy Materials will take place at the U Parkhotel (University of Twente) in Enschede. This symposium is a joint 4TU.HTM & M2i initiative in collaboration with the University of Groningen.

Prof. Marc Geers and dr. Varvara Kouznetsova will be chairing the CMCS 2023 Conference at Eindhoven University of Technology, 10-13 October 2023 Objective The objective of CMCS is to elucidate cutting-edge developments in multi-scale computational modelling of complex materials, possessing distinct fine-scale structure and/or exhibiting coupled phenomena. Particular emphasis is put on emergent coarse-scale behaviour resulting from the underlying fine-scale structure. CMCS thus focuses on both the (experimentally informed) modelling of complex fine-scale structural phenomena, and on their upscaling to coarser scales. CMCS will gather scientists from different disciplines working on scale-bridging challenges in complex materials to advance the field significantly. CMCS will foster inspiring and rewarding discussions and will serve as a platform for establishing and nurturing links between researchers.

Professor Julius Vancso will illustrate his ongoing magical tour in polymer science by some highlights that have been obtained by him, his students, and his associates during the last 40 years. My journey with polymers: Past, present, and future The Farewell lecture of Professor Julius Vancso on Friday 15 September 2023 will start at 16:00 hours and will be held in Waaier 2, the Prof. ir. M.P. Breedveld room Waaier Building. Earlier that afternoon, there will be a symposium, starting at 13.30 hours, with lectures by Professor K. Matyjaszewski, Professor N. Prof.dr.ir. Gertjan Koster appointed by the Executive Board of the University of Twente as Professor of Physics of Inorganic Nano Materials at the Faculty of Science and Technology (TNW), will be giving an inaugural lecture (in Dutch) in the Prof.ir. The business awareness course of M2i and 4TU.HTM prepares materials science PhD students and Post-doctoral researchers in the later stages of their projects on their future career in industry or academia.

This conference is a joint initiative of Delft University of Technology, Eindhoven University of Technology and University of Twente to get familiar with each other’s work and discuss potential collaborations, both in research and education. The full-day event will be open to staff members at the four universities of technology from PhD candidates to full professors, and is funded by the 4TU foundation.
