On Monday 29 June 2026, researchers from across the 4TU+.AMI network gathered in Groningen for the annual 4TU+.AMI Community Event. Hosted at the House of Connections, the event offered an opportunity to connect with colleagues, welcome new members to the community, and learn about the latest research developments across the Dutch applied mathematics community.
Interview with Jim Portegies about NRO Scale-up and 4TU+.AMI grants for 'Waterproof'
According to many mathematicians a major shift is taking place in the mathematics research landscape. Mathematicians and big tech companies are working intensively to formalize (i.e. translate to a format that can be read by a computer) mathematical proofs and verify their correctness using so-called proof assistants. Long research articles, which typically take months to review, could be verified in a day by using such new tools. This opens new paths in mathematics research.
4TU+.AMI Education Day 2026 on 20 November
This annual 4TU+.AMI event aims to inform and inspire educators by exploring the latest developments in mathematics education. It also provides a platform for sharing experiences, foster collaboration, and building a strong teaching community.
Funding
To promote and strengthen mathematics in the Netherlands, 4TU+.AMI offers funding for events and projects in the field of applied mathematics.

Mathematics and the newest stained-glass window De Staat in Paradiso
Mathematicians Pim van der Hoorn and Mike van Santvoort (Eindhoven University of Technology) have collaborated with two artists to create a new stained-glass window for Paradiso -a music venue and cultural centre in Amsterdam- as part of the long-term art project "De Moderne Moraal".
