Arjan Mol appointed fellow Netherlands Academy of Engineering

The Netherlands Academy of Engineering (NAE) highlights the significance of technological innovation with the designation of 62 fellows (members). These experts, originating from the realms of engineering, applied research, and innovation, will play an active role in fulfilling NAE’s mission. Their primary objective is to cultivate an environment of innovation that yields both societal and economic value by furnishing engineering-based solutions to major societal issues, concurrently creating fresh business prospects and avenues for export. The appointment of these 62 fellows marks the formal commencement of NAE’s activities.

Arjan Mol, Scientific Director of 4TU.HTM, is one of the appointed fellows. He is Professor of Corrosion Technology and Electrochemistry in the Materials Science and Engineering Department (Faculty of Mechanical, Maritime and Materials Engineering, TU Delft), and  studies local corrosion mechanisms, surface treatment of metals, adhesion between polymers and metal (oxides) and performance of actively protective coatings in application areas ranging from aerospace to micro-electronics.

With these fellows, NAE brings together a body of engineers with a diverse background, elected for their prestigious track record of impactful engineering-based innovation, their motivation and ability to make a difference, and for their objective, cross-sectoral, and high integrity attitude.

NAE fellows are experts from research institutes, companies and start-ups. They are active in various sectors, including High Tech Systems and Materials, ICT, Healthcare, Energy, Water Management and Food. The fellows will share their knowledge and skills through the NAE forum, translate insights into practical advice and work to remove obstacles and stimulate concrete innovation initiatives.
