Looking back at the DeSIRE Conference 2022
It is with pleasure that we look back at the DeSIRE Conference 2022: two days in which all the facets of Designing Systems for Informed Resilience Engineering were touched upon in the full scope of its supporting themes. Through thematic sessions - nicely balancing both inspirational talks by our researchers and interactive tours or workshops, the DeSIRE community showed the results made in the Resilience Engineering domains of Agri, Cyber, Decision-Making, Energy, Ethics, Networks, Urban and Water.

Tina Comes hands over Evidence Review Report on European Strategic Crisis Management in Brussels
On 29 June Tina Comes handed over the Science Advice by European Academies (SAPEA) Evidence Review Report on the EU’s Strategic Crisis Management to Maarja Kruusmaa, member of the Group of Scientific Advisors to the European Commission. The report is to inform the EU’s role in strategic crisis management. Since crises affect virtually all aspects of our societies, the report spans field ranging from the use of data and strategic foresight to dealing with the implications of climate change; from food security to improved governance; from (in-)equality to participation.

Call for papers for symposium in ICASP14

A cordial invitation to the honorary lecture of Carl Folke on Resilience in Leiden on 28 September. Carl Folke is selected as the winner of the 2022  KNAW Heineken Prize in Environmental Science, which is a very influential prize, with some of the former laureates later receiving Nobel.

Rubicon grant for Robbin Jan van Duijne

The Resilience Engineering Methodologies – DeSIRE Summer meeting took place on June 20th at “Oudaen” in Utrecht. Tatiana Filatova welcomed us and we were happy to welcome several DeSIRE Fellows and Guests in our midst, including Maria Pregnolato, Elena Bakhanova, Ezgi Orhan, Sitong Luo, Rui Texeira, Firouzeh Taghikhah, Beatriz Martinez Pastor, Zahra Sadrian and others.
