Working on the edge of the (im)possible

Her life motto: Changing the world with Science and technology. And mathematics is a big part of it. “Mathematics intrigued me from childhood, I have always wanted to do something for society," says Katya Vladislavleva, owner of a Belgian high-tech startup specialised in advanced data science and predictive modeling technology, Evolved Analytics Europe BVBA. After completing her master's degree at the Moscow State University, applying for the technological design program Mathematics for Industry (MI), part of the 4TU.School for Technological Design, Stan Ackermans Institute, seemed the first next logical step in her aim to close the gap between mathematics and industry. Her results for data modeling were implemented at DOW already before fully completing her end project at that company. For Vladislavleva at that time, the seed was planted; she knew exactly the direction in which she wanted her future to go.

"Now, ten years later, I am problem owner myself and I work with trainees from the technological designer programme MI in Eindhoven. Why? Within our field, we work on the edge of the (im) possible. We always want to keep improving our best products, produce them faster and at lower cost. It is a mind-shift; what wasn’t even possible one decade ago, is now becoming globally accepted. This shift requires exceptional design engineers who can establish exceptional results, people who want to change the world. You will find these people at the technological designer programmes at the Stan Ackermans Institute.”

“The experience of working with the trainees is good”, according to Vladislavleva. She indicates being surprised by the speed at which the current trainee is making progress on the project and how quickly concrete deliverables are being established. Vladislavleva continues: "My own company encountered an interesting industrial challenge and I knew I could count on the quality of the design engineers and scientific experts of Mathematics for Industry. Initially we started our cooperation with brief first-year projects. However, in a short period of time my company started to grow and and we are still urgently scouting for talented technological designers. ”The first place we started looking is the Stan Ackermans Institute. Working with the trainees from the institute is an excellent opportunity to get to know someone's talents, skills and personality before you decide to offer this person a position within your company. We are always on the look-out for exceptional talent and innovation, the best place to look is at 4TU.School for Technological Design, Stan Ackermans Institute. "
