Twente Resilience Meeting & Drinks

Tuesday 16 March 2021 / 15.45 - 17.30

Since January 2018, the 4TU Centre for Resilience Engineering (4TU.RE) has been set-up, including the 4TU DeSIRE programme. In January 2019, UT established “Engineering for a Resilient World” as one of the five strategic themes. Because of these two important initiatives, we want to build and strengthen a local resilience network/community Resilience@UT, as part of several national and international networks that are being set-up around (aspects of) resilience.

Invitation

Dear colleagues working on resilience research,

We are warmly inviting you to the next online 4TU Twente Resilience Meeting and Drinks taking place on:

Tuesday 16 March 2021
15.45 – 17.30 hrs
Microsoft Teams

With our lives and economies becoming more dependent on communication networks– Internet and wireless networks –, ensuring resilience and availability of these networks has become more crucial. However, various threats, e.g., targeted attacks like the ransomware attack recently experienced by several institutions in the Netherlands or unintentional disturbances in the network infrastructure, might put communication networks under risk. In this meeting, dr. Roland van Rijswijk-Deij (EEMCS) will discuss the resilience of a core Internet service, namely DNS, while Lotte Weedage (EEMCS) will present her research on if and how much resilience and capacity of a wireless network can be improved by multi-connectivity. Moreover, we would like to invite you to a discussion on the resilience of communication networks and potential risks these networks may face in the coming years or even decades due to natural, political, or technological risks.

Looking forward to meeting you!

On behalf of the organizing committee of the Twente Resilience Meetings and Drinks,
Dr. Suzan Bayhan and Dr. Veronica Junjan
