The ICRS is one of the leading interdisciplinary conferences in resilience research, featuring 200 accepted contributions in its most recent edition. After successful events in Mexico City (2023), Singapore (2024), and Delft (2026)—where the 4TU Centre for Resilience Engineering took the lead—the conference will now take place in Darmstadt for the first time.
The event is backed by a strong network of organizing partners, including the Singapore-ETH Centre, ETH Zürich, TU Darmstadt, and the DLR Institute for the Protection of Terrestrial Infrastructures. Furthermore, Christian Reuter, Vice Coordinator of the LOEWE center emergenCITY, and Max Mühlhäuser, Distinguished Emeritus at emergenCITY, have been serving on the ICRS scientific organizing committee since 2024.
„We are delighted to bring this outstanding international and interdisciplinary conference on resilient systems to Darmstadt,“ says Christian Reuter, Professor of Science and Technology for Peace and Security at TU Darmstadt. „This underscores the appreciation for our research on resilient infrastructures for digital cities, which we have been conducting at the LOEWE center emergenCITY since 2020.“
Hosting ICRS 2027 will also highlight the crucial step of translating this research into real-world applications. Organized in close cooperation with the Schader-Stiftung, the upcoming conference provides a major platform for this mission. „This will also increase the visibility of the Digital Resilience Xchange (DiReX) application and transfer center, which has been putting emergenCITY’s research into practice since 2025,“ states Michèle Knodt, Director of DiReX and Professor of Political Science. „We look forward to excellent contributions and a fruitful exchange between scientists and practitioners in the coming year.“
