João Cortesão

João is an expert in climate resilience driven by the urgency to accelerate the transition to resilient urban futures. He believes resilience is about collaboration, transformation and impact. A belief he operationalises in complex projects that connect climate with other pressing issues in urban areas. Drawing from an international career in different sectors, he pursues his mission by orchestrating innovation agendas in line with international investment frameworks. Throughout his career João has developed and implemented design and policy advice within the fields of urban design, landscape architecture, spatial planning and architecture. Knowledge transfer, interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral work are keywords of his activity. He has taken on diverse strategic, research and coordinating roles. All of it with a common denominator: driving the transition toward resilient urban futures.
