Sunday, 25 October 2015
The Solar Teams of TU Delft, TU Eindhoven and University of Twente have proved that the Netherlands is among the best in the world in the field of solar cars.

The Solar Teams of TU Delft, TU Eindhoven and Twente University have proved that the Netherlands is among the best in the world in the field of solar cars.

The Nuon Solar Team of Delft University of Technology won the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge. It is the sixth time the team wins the race in the Challenger Class: the Formula 1 for solar cars. Team Twente came in second after an exciting race. Twente was in the lead for about half of the race. The battle between the two Dutch teams was chillingly exciting right up until the streets of Adelaide where Delft pulled ahead at the very last.

By winning the Cruiser class with 'Stella Lux' of TU Eindhoven in the Cruiser class, the Dutch victory was complete. The Stella Lux is a family car  and in this category the number of occupants, energy consumption and innovation are considered in addition to the time.

The Bridgestone World Solar Challenge is the most prestigious race for cars running on solar energy. Together with over 50 other international competitors, the Solar Teams of the three TU’s drove their solar cars 3,000 kilometres right across the Australian outback, from Darwin in the north to Adelaide in the south.
