Organisation

The 4TU.Federation consists of various components that enable the joint efforts of the four technical universities. Below you can see what these components are and what role they play within the federation.


Organisation

General Management Board

The General Management Board is made up of every member of the Executive Boards of the universities of technology. Based on proposals by the Executive Committee, the General Management Board sets down the foundation’s long-term plan, annual plan, and annual report.

Executive Board

The Executive Board of the 4TU.Federation consists of the Presidents of the Executive Boards of the four Dutch universities of technology: Sjoukje Heimovaara (Wageningen University & Research, also Chair of the 4TU.Federation), Ingrid Thijssen (TU Delft),  Koen Janssen (Eindhoven University of Technology), Gregor Halff (University of Twente).

The Executive Board is responsible for the governance of the foundation and sets the strategic direction of the federation. It makes decisions on proposals and recommendations submitted by the Board Committees for Research, Education, and Valorisation. Based on the advice of these committees, the Executive Board also approves the plans, budgets, and accountability reports of the various operational units of the 4TU.Federation.

In addition, the Executive Board represents the 4TU.Federation in external relations and partnerships.

Rectors' Council

Within the 4TU Rectors’ Council, the rectors of the four universities of technology jointly guide the strategic development of the 4TU.Federation in the areas of education, research, and innovation. They foster collaboration between the universities and provide direction for shared initiatives and ambitions.

In addition, the rectors oversee the activities and performance of the 4TU Networks, 4TU.Education, and 4TU.Impact, as well as the functioning of the governing boards of these entities.

Bureau

The 4TU Federation Bureau consists of a Secretary, a Coordinator and a Communications Advisor.

The 4TU Secretary advises the Board and the Board Committees and contributes to the development, implementation and evaluation of the federation’s strategic policies. In addition, the Secretary plays an important role in representing the federation in external networks and partnerships.

The 4TU Coordinator supports governance processes within the federation and its Board Committees and ensures the efficient coordination of ongoing activities and projects.

The Communications Advisor develops and implements the 4TU communication strategy, strengthens the visibility of the federation, and supports communication for joint programmes, projects and events. The Communications Advisor also serves as the central point of contact for communication-related matters within the 4TU network.
