Trade mission for start-ups serves as a valuable meeting point for contacts close to home
Trade missions to technology expos are very useful for start-ups. This was evident during the Finnish trade expo Slush, where 4TU.IMPACT held the finals of the last Impact Challenge. Several start-ups from the four participating Dutch technical universities (4TU) traveled to Finland. The participants were able to expand their networks and come into contact with investors there.

Students compete to really make a difference with their social innovations
"It's just a real pleasure every time," says Robert-Jan Smits, president of the Executive Board of the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). He is referring to the students who pitch their ideas, prototypes and projects during a competition like the TU/e Contest or the 4TU Impact Challenge in the battle for the prize. "It's wonderful and really clever how these young people are able to present themselves. Just in terms of how creative they are in their solutions for a wide variety of issues. That's really special.”

CryoCOP wins the 4TU Carbon Removal Student Challenge
October 25th, StartHUB Wageningen– Student team CryoCOP has won the 4TU Carbon Removal Student Award with their innovative idea that helps to rebalance Earth’s carbon cycle. CryoCOP’s idea is to ‘capture pure CO2 using a cryogenic process at a disruptively low price’ thereby beating the other finalists MIONA and NYMPHAE in the Dutch student competition organized by the 4TU federation. This initiative started in April 2021 after XPRIZE Foundation announced their 100M$ Carbon Removal challenge supported by the Elon Musk Foundation. This XPRIZE challenge is a special one, as it offered Student Teams a platform to compete with their 'idea proposals' for the 5M$ Student Demonstration Awards. This is where the 4TU.Federation stepped in and enabled students across the four Dutch technical universities to come together, form teams and compete for the XPRIZE's Student Demonstration Award on Carbon Removal.
