The Master’s thesis of Michiel Wolbers is about decision making in innovation projects in the construction industry. Under supervision of dr.ir. Erwin Hofman, prof.dr.ir. Joop Halman and dr. Judith Timmer, he performed his project at the Innovation Management department of Balast Nedam.
Michiel Wolbers did his research in the various decision-making processes in three innovation projects within Ballast Nedam. Besides, he researched the impact of these processes on the innovation performance. Amongst others, the results of the research are that the type of innovation project affects the decision-making process, and that for successful projects it is not necessary to take all decisions jointly.
The 3TU Construction Management & Engineering Master thesis award is created to give excellent graduation work of CME the attention among a wider audience. For each of the three universities where the CME Master is taught, two graduation projects nominated. By means of an independent jury, his project is chosen as the best Master’s thesis of the 3TU programme in Construction Management and Engineering (CME).
At the moment, Michiel Wolbers conducts his PhD-research at the University of Twente to decision making processes in inter-organisational innovation projects. He combines his research with his job at the Innovation Management department at Ballast Nedam.
