Comenius Leadership grant for University of Twente
Yesterday the university of Twente has been granted an NRO Comenius Leadership Fellow of €250,000 euro. It will be used to enhance interdisciplinary modules of four different UT education programmes in the ‘STRIPES2021’ project. Interdisciplinary education is a topic 4TU.CEE is intensely working on. Only last year WUR also received a Comenius Leadership grant for a project on interdisciplinarity.
Restructuring interdisciplinary projects
Engineering students are preparing themselves for jobs in which an interdisciplinary approach is crucial to tackle societal challenges. Interdisciplinary education programmes are already offered in engineering education, such as technical medicine, biotechnology, advanced technology and creative technology. For many teacher teams the design of this type of education is still a challenge. In the STRIPES2021 (STRucturing Interdisciplinary Projects for Engineering Students) these teams will be assisted in restructuring their interdisciplinary modules by analysing best practices and by involving students.
The Comenius project will run for some three years, but Jan van der Veen of the Department of Teacher Development at UT and 4TU.CEE leader of UT intends to share preliminary results next year September at the SEFI conference that UT and 4TU.CEE will be hosting.
