Tuesday, 27 June 2017
Aldert Kamp, 4TU.CEE leader for TU Delft has been designated as Global Director of the worldwide university network of CDIO at the CDIO Annual Conference 2017 in Calgary.

Aldert Kamp, 4TU.CEE leader for TU Delft has been designated as Global Director of the worldwide university network of CDIO at the CDIO Annual Conference 2017 in Calgary. He succeeds Johan Malmqvist of Chalmers University, the founder of the CDIO network. Together with the second Global Director from Canada, he is ultimately responsible for the operationalisation of the network that consists of nearly 150 engineering universities worldwide. Objective of CDIO is to draw up and develop a new vision for engineering education fit for the 21st century. Kamp: ’The CDIO™ INITIATIVE is an innovative educational framework for producing the next generation of engineers’.

Inspiration

TU Delft has been a member of CDIO since 2011. The faculty of Aerospace Engineering in particular has played an important and very active role in the network. The numerous inspirations that Aldert has gained over the past years, also in this network, have allowed him to draw up the second revised edition of the publication ‘Engineering Education in the Rapidly Changing World, and to contribute to the new education vision of TU Delft. Already more than 1500 copies of the publication have been dispersed worldwide. The network and educational framework for engineering education can be of great value to other engineering programmes at TU Delft and other universities of technology.
