Call for chapters: Adaptive performance in engineering in times of uncertainty and change

Monday, 19 June 2023

On behalf of the 4TU Centre for Engineering Education (4TU.CEE) we initiated the open access Higher Engineering Education Research & Innovation (HEErI) book series. We are happy to share this call and invite you to contribute to the first book of the series on adaptive performance in the professional domain of engineering.

Introduction to adaptive performance

As editorial team, we prepared a first chapter on adaptive performance in which we explore adaptive performance from different perspectives. The purpose of the chapter is to inspire you, as a potential contributor to the book, to decide from what angle you would be willing to contribute. Are you curious? Then please don’t hesitate to reach out to us, so that we can share our work with you.

How can you contribute?

We welcome contributions in different formats.

Timeline

Summary of book proposal: July 7th 2023

Deadline draft version: 22nd of September 2023

Peer-review on draft, including editor’s decision for resubmission or not, will be shared at the end of October 2023

Deadline final version: 26th of January 2024

Practicalities

The main target group of the book are engineering scholars and teachers in higher education. Next to teachers, the book may be of interest to HR staff from organizations, curriculum developers, education consultants, and policymakers in higher education.

Would you like to contribute to the book? Please share a summary of your proposal of about 250 words before July 7th. By that time all summaries will be discussed by the editorial team and a selection will take place.

The selected summaries are asked to submit a draft of the paper.

In total, the book will be about 150 pages. We welcome short, to-the-point contributions of about 5000 words (including references and appendices).

Review process

Each book chapter will be double-blind peer-reviewed by two other authors. Please note that submitting a chapter does not guarantee publication in the book. Selected authors will be asked to review chapters of other contributors.

Ideas? Questions? Interested to receive the first chapter? Then please don’t hesitate to reach out to us via Yvette Baggen (yvette.baggen@wur.nl)

We are looking forward to your response,

Warm regards,

The editorial team,

Antoine van den Beemt (TU/e), Jan van Tartwijk (UU), Marieke van der Schaaf (UMCU), Yvette Baggen (WUR)
