Kick-off Webinar Series: Research into Challenge-based Education

Wednesday 10 November 2021 / 09.30 - 11.00

4TU.CEE continues the webinar series on challenge-based education at the 4TUs. The new series will discuss research into CBE practices and will focus on students, lecturers and stake holders. What can these groups learn when participating in CBE trajectories?

We will kick-off the new series with Jan Vermunt, professor at TU/e. He will speak on the subject: ‘For innovations to take root, you have to research them properly’. How do we do that in the context of CBL-CBE where multiple disciplines and stakeholders are involved?

After his presentation an interactive workshop will take place where we will discuss how good research can be done in a CBE innovation context. Here we will focus on more methodological questions such as: what is the role of the researcher, what methods do you use? What data do you collect? How do you guarantee research quality, etc.

About Jan Vermunt
Jan Vermunt is professor of Learning and Educational Innovation at Eindhoven University of Technology, Eindhoven School of Education. He is also Scientific Director of the School. His expertise areas are the learning sciences, with a focus on teaching and student learning in higher education, and teachers' learning and professional development.
