Venture Building for Climate Deeptech
Apply to become a co-founder of one of our next deeptech climate spinouts.
Europe leads in world-class research, strong startup funding, and industrial excellence. Yet too many scientific breakthroughs never become world-changing companies. This "spinout gap" slows down innovation. With a problem as urgent as climate change, delay comes at a planetary cost.
The technologies to significantly reduce emissions already exist in our labs. What's missing is speed, focus, and the right founding teams to bring them to market at scale.
Teggwings is the venture building program of the 4 Technical Universities in the Netherlands. Part of the 4TU.IMPACT program, we exist to close the spinout gap between promising university research and world-changing companies. We build the next wave of scalable climate solutions based on breakthrough research from the 4TU.
The program is led by TU Delft Impact Studio, the pre-incubator of TU Delft, in collaboration with the Knowledge Transfer Offices of all four universities.

How It Works
We scout intellectual property from the 4TU with promising potential in the fields of energy storage and recycling. Our market researchers validate the market potential of the technology, identify first customers and partnerships, and make everything ready for its first fundraising round. In the meantime, we actively scout potential co-founders, offering them the opportunity to try out working on different cases and with different co-founders. Once the market is validated and the founding team is set, the projects become spinouts that go on to raise their first fundraising round.

Who is this for?
TU researchers looking for a clear pathway to spinout their innovation, without requiring researchers to become founders.

Our Methodology
Our approach is strongly practice-driven and centred around structured market validation and stakeholder engagement. We focus on early-stage validation of research-based technologies (typically TRL 3–4) to bridge the gap between promising research and venture creation.

Projects alternate between technology push and market pull until both converge into a validated and quantified opportunity. Market learning is driven through structured outreach — direct introductions, LinkedIn, and industry events — generating high-quality insights through interviews rather than desk research alone.
