Nordic bases alumni are invited to join us for an online gathering, on Wednesday, 10 June, bringing together alumni across the Nordics. The programme from 19:30 till 21:30 CEST includes short interviews with alumni from Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden, covering what it's like to settle in, the opportunities available, and the realities of relocating as a recent graduate.
The programme also spotlights the impact of the local alumni network. Nick Burlet, a TU/e alumnus now doing his PhD at DTU in Denmark, will be speak about his research on developing a safer, more affordable treatment for snakebite victims across sub-Saharan Africa, with a focus on neutralising the venoms of the most medically relevant elapid species, including cobras and mambas.
Also joining us is Myrte van der Ree, a TU Delft alumna in Marine Technology who has built an international career in offshore engineering. Based in Stavanger since 2018, where she is now Project Engineering Manager at Subsea 7, she has spent nearly two decades working on complex subsea infrastructure projects across Angola, the Gulf of Mexico, Houston, and London before putting down roots in Norway. Myrte will talk about building a career in that sector and what it means to make Stavanger home.
These talks are also in an interview setting. There will also be live updates from Delft, Eindhoven, Twente, and Wageningen, and the session wraps up with location-based breakout borrels which is a chance to catch up with familiar faces and meet new ones.
