Successful start of Joint Interdisciplinary Project at TU Delft

Wednesday, 16 September 2020

The Joint Interdisciplinary Project in which 151 students work in student teams on company cases has successfully started in the 1st week of September. In this 10 week course TU Delft Master students will work on 31 company cases in the Clusters Aerospace, Energy Transition, Health, Industry & Society 4.0. and Urbanism & Delta. They started off with a three-day kick off programme, in which an on and offline pressure cooker programme was run to conduct team-building (through serious gaming) and resilience training. The students were also introduced to climate action, scrum, business model canvass, problem definition, innovation circle and ethics. The programme was created in close collaboration, with company staff, academic staff and JIP team staff.

Cases

Cases address issues around energy efficiency, technology innovation for climate impact mitigation and handling covid-19 issues as well as future living conditions. The cases are provided by companies and organisations ranging from Airbus, KLM, Embraer, Huisman, Van Oord, RHDHV, Arcadis to Reinier de Graaff hospital and DSM. The first well-formulated problem definitions have been presented last week and left companies with a positive impression of the enormous amount of work students are able to realise to make a head start. The students are looking forward to the next meet up in which company professionals will share their vision on topics such as leadership, non-verbal behaviour in covid-19 time, technical feasibility and more.
