We are pleased to invite you to the 4TU.NIRICT PhD School, which will take place on Tuesday, 17 March 2026, at the Crowne Plaza Utrecht Central Station.Â
This PhD School on Emerging Computing Paradigms is aimed at mid-stage PhD candidates (in particular year 2 and year 3) working in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, and closely related research areas.Â

🚀 AGORA-6G Awarded 4TU.NIRICT Research Funding
đ 'AGORA-6G: Reproducible and Governable Open RAN Testbeds for AI-Native 6Gâ has been awarded funding in the 4TU.NIRICT Research Funding Call 2025.
The call encourages research at the intersection of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, addressing ICT challenges that align with the Key Enabling Technologies defined in the Dutch National Technology Strategy (NTS).
đĄ AGORA-6G brings together CS and EE researchers to develop front-end experimental software, collect data from the existing testbeds at TU/e and UT, and generate open datasets for the wider community. The project aims to promote trustworthy, reproducible AI-native 6G experimentation by standardizing configuration disclosure and providing a transparent framework that turns testbed runs into shareable datasets and auditable models, whose behavior is traceable, retrainable, and comparable across laboratories, operators, and vendors.

Looking back at the 4TU.NIRICT Community Day, December 2, 2025
On 2 December, the annual 4TU.NIRICT Community Day took place at the Crowne Plaza in Utrecht. With around 45 participants , the day was filled with inspiring discussions, networking, and forward-looking insights into the future of ICT research in the Netherlands.
The event began with a walk-in lunch, followed by the official opening of the Community Day. The program offered a balanced mix of in-depth presentations, interactive sessions, and opportunities to strengthen the 4TU.NIRICT community.

🌟 Hack4Her receives 4TU.NIRICT DEI funding! 🌟
Hack4Her, the only continuous female-focused student hackathon in the Netherlands, has been awarded funding through the 4TU.NIRICT DEI call.
Since 2022, the event has engaged over 250 hackers and 300 participants, offering a safe, inspiring space for women in CS and EE to explore technology and gain recognition.

Two projects received funding in the 4TU.NIRICT Call for Raising Awareness in High Schools on ICT Challenges
To address the growing shortage of ICT professionals in the Netherlands and to strengthen the countryâs digital and sustainable future, 4TU.NIRICT launched a special funding call to raise awareness of ICT challenges in high schools. The aim is to inspire students to explore Computer Science and Electrical Engineering subjects and to support teachers in integrating these topics into their lessons.

In December 2024, the project âEnhance understanding of the mathematics and computer science behind artificial intelligence (AI) among high school students and teachersâ received funding through the 4TU.NIRICT Call for Proposals for Raising Awareness in High Schools on ICT Challenges.Â

We are pleased to announce that two new collaborative projects have been awarded funding through the Joint Call from 4TU.Energy and 4TU.NIRICT. UTOPYS has been awarded a €16.5 million grant through the Large-Scale Research Infrastructure (LSRI) programme from the NWO (Dutch Research Council)
đ˘ The 4TU.Energy and 4TU.NIRICT Community Funding  enabled collaboration between eight universities and SURF on a visionary proposal for the energy systems of the future. This collaboration has resulted in a groundbreaking consortium project â Understanding Large and cOmplex Power sYstems (UTOPYS).
