4TU.NIRICT @ICT.OPEN 2023, April 20, 2023, 2-3pm
4TU-NIRICT will participate in NWO ICT.OPEN 2023 in Utrecht, April 19-20, 2023 and will showcase some past and present research activities from the NIRICT community, as well as outlining our vision for future actions. We organize a presentation session and will participate in poster sessions.

4TU.NIRICT and the Bernoulli Institute of the UG join forces
Since January 2023, the Bernoulli Institute of the University of Groningen (UG) has become a full partner of 4TU.NIRICT. As a result, the 4TU.NIRICT Community has been expanded with an institute from a 5th university, so when talking about the 4TU.NIRICT Community or a 4TU.NIRICT affiliated university, the Bernoulli Institute of University of Groningen is part of it.

New 4TU.NIRICT Call for Community Funding 2023
The goal of this funding scheme is to strengthen and support collaboration among researchers and practitioners of the 4TU.NIRICT community, increasing the impact of ICT research in The Netherlands. This call therefore explicitly aims to support all activities that help in strengthening the 4TU.NIRICT community and enable this community to start-up new research ventures by using this funding.

New 4TU.NIRICT Call to join the European Innovation Academy (EIA)
The goal of 4TU.NIRICT is to strengthen and support collaboration among researchers and practitioners of the 4TU institutes working in the ICT domain. It promotes cross-disciplinary collaboration beyond institutional boundaries, as well as the diversity and inclusion of the Dutch ICT research community. In this way it intends to increase the impact of ICT research in The Netherlands.

Summary 4TU.NIRICT Community Day 2022
On November 14, 2022, our annual Community Day took place at the Van der Valk Hotel in Utrecht with the participation of about 50 researchers. The day started with a networking lunch followed by a short presentation by Mark van den Brand (TU/e) with some great results from NIRICT over the past year.

The DEI4 Embodied AI Project won the NWO Diversity Initiative Award 2022
The NWO Diversity & Inclusion Initiative Award is for initiatives that increase diversity within the field. A winner is selected each year and this year's Diversity & Inclusion Initiative Award went to the DEI4 Embodied AI initiative; a project funded by the 4TU.NIRICT DEI fund. The prize consists of a statue and 50K.

Four projects awarded funding for 4TU.NIRICT call 2022
In March 2022, the 4TU.NIRICT centre launched the 4TU.NIRICT call 2022 to support all ICT related activities that help in strengthening the 4TU.NIRICT community. Applications could be submitted until June 1st. 4TU.NIRICT received many proposals with a good spread of the 4TUs. After thoroughly reviewing all proposals by the members of the NIRICT Board, four projects have been awarded funding:

Do you design the bike of the future
Bicycles can play a big role in the future of smart cities and can even become a key pillar of a sustainable, safe and effective mobile society. However, currently bicycles are not fully integrated into the new era, which will bring potential risks due to the shared road infrastructures and unexpected cycling behaviour.
