Philosophy at a technical university can seem special or strange. Some do not even know TU Delft does philosophy. Generations of scholars, administrations, and policies have made philosophy what it is today, at TU Delft.
Through this workshop, consisting of a series of presentations and panel discussions, we reflect on philosophy at TU Delft through a historical lens. While in the last years it has become clearer what sort of reflections philosophers have about technology, we have fewer reflections on how philosophical practice has changed as a result of technical innovations, institutional settings, and cultural, economic, and political forces. To gain context, we set our day against the backdrop of the philosophy of technology in the Netherlands more broadly.
Join us for a day of presentations and discussions on the history of philosophy of technology in the Netherlands and at TU Delft in particular. Whether you are staff, a student, or simply passionate about the topic, you are very welcome to join!
