CfP ETHICOMP 2027: ‘Tech Shaping Lives’ | 2–4 June 2027 |

We are excited to announce that Maastricht University will host ETHICOMP 2027, the 23rd edition of the international ETHICOMP conference series.
Taking place 2-4 June 2027, the conference will bring together researchers, professionals, and experts from around the world to explore the ethical, social, political, and philosophical questions surrounding the development and use of technology.
With the theme, ‘Tech Shaping Lives’, ETHICOMP 2027 will focus on the ways in which technologies shape human experiences, societies, and everyday life. It will provide an inclusive international forum for discussing the human(e) factor in technologies, including (but not limited to): Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), Extended Reality (XR), and Virtual Reality (VR).
The conference is organised by the Philosophy Department, in collaboration with the Maastricht Convention Bureau and the Brightlands Institute for Smart Societies.

CALL FOR PAPERS AND SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
We invite scholars to submit an extended abstract of max. 1500 words, via this link: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ethicomp2027
Submission deadline: Monday 19 October, 23:59 CET.
Extended abstracts can be submitted either to a specialised, thematic track, or to the open track. For the list of track themes, see https://www.aanmelder.nl/ethicomp2027/new-page
The extended abstract must be written in English, must be the original ideas and work of the author(s), and any identifiable information (e.g., name, institution) has to be removed, if the abstract is submitted as a PDF. All extended abstracts will be peer-reviewed.
If your abstract is accepted for the conference, at least one author must register for the conference and attend in-person to present the work (presentation of max. 20 minutes, followed by a short Q&A).

Prof. Sven Nyholm, Professor of Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU), Germany
Prof. Kiyoshi Murata and Dr. Ryoko Asai are confirmed speakers for our keynote panel on global philosophy of technology; more panel members will be announced later.
