I was a PhD student in the philosophy department at the University of Twente. At the Radboud University and the Humbold University zu Berlin I acquired my bachelor and research master (cum laude) in philosophy, focusing on the intersection of ethics and metaphysics in works of the Søren Kierkegaard and Friedrich Nietzsche. During these years, I was also part of a KNAW funded project on the productive tension between reason and religion.
Next I was part of the technological mediation theory VICI project running under the supervision of Peter-Paul Verbeek and Ciano Aydin. My research explores the way(s) in which technologies mediate our conception of transcendence, the latter notion understood as the absolute boundary of our knowledge and possibilities to intervene. In particular, I am interested in the ways new technologies present the beginning and the end of our life as a ‘gift’ or as something that is ‘makeable’ respectively.
Jonne now is assistant professor at the Netherlands Defence Academy.
