Hello everyone! My name is Xiaolu Rui. I originally come from China and received my bachelor's degree in English literature and worked as an English teacher in secondary schools there. Then I moved to Oulu, Finland for my master's degree in learning science and educational technologies.
My academic interest gradually built from my teaching experiences: how teachers face the challenges from this constantly changing era. This is also why I moved to Finland to study more. In Finland, I was immersed with self-regulation and collaborative learning knowledge and observed how students and teachers are challenged by the student-centered and collaborative learning environment, which made me more curious about how they deal with these challenges and how teachers were supported.
Built on my interest and expertise, I started my PhD journey with the support of EuroTech, 4TU.CEE, and CBL fund this summer at Eindhoven University of Technology, focusing on the teaching team in a multidisciplinary learning environment. I aim to develop an intervention that supports the teaching team to develop and forest a professional development community in a multidisciplinary learning environment. My PhD is supervised by Jan van der Veen as my promotor, with Marieke Thurlings and Karolina Doulougeri as my co-promotors.
Outside my academic work, I enjoy taking a long walk, playing video games, and knitting. I look forward to further connecting with the 4TU.CEE community!
