4TU Energy Community Day

On 27 March 2023, 4TU Energy research center will have a one day live event at the Green Village in Delft.

4TU Energy Community Day

4TU Energy research center is one of the research centers of the 4 technical universities federation; it is an environment where researchers from TU Delft, TU/e, University Twente, and Wageningen University & Research are connected. This community is growing and expanding, NOW it is time to meet each other, in person, and boost our collaborations!

So many technologies and projects in the energy field have been developed in the past few years, of which we, as the energy engine, should be very proud; but it is also important to sit down together to share ideas, to trigger more great funding proposals, and to participate in the further development of our community.

On this day, 4TU Energy research center will present what has been achieved in the past years regarding our mission – to strengthen the bonding within 4TU Energy researchers and to speed up the energy transition to a CO2-neutral society; Ph.D. students and researchers above will be invited to present their project by poster/pitch, from which, we can feel the pulse of the most recent developing projects and preliminary results.

On this day, you will hear about the funding 4TU Energy provides to foster the community; you will meet and greet your peers in a board energy field, learn about their work and get the chance to socialize; you will get ideas from an inspiring keynote and guided green village tour; and, most importantly, shape 4TU.Energy for YOUR benefits and create YOUR opportunities, especially for YOUR early career in Energy research. Title:

Zooming In Zooming out: telescoping to accelerate the energy transition

 Abstract:

The global commitment to keep global temperature rise well below 2°C requires deep GHG emission reductions. This demands the development and implementation of a large number of breakthrough technologies throughout all sectors of the economy. In most cases, this will increase interconnections between sectors, further blurring the lines between the power, industrial, transport, residential and agricultural sectors. Which and when technologies are implemented in one sector may trigger (un)wanted effects in other sectors, making solutions very complex. Using examples from the industrial sector, I will discuss some of the key challenges we face today to accelerate the energy transition and the importance of taking a zoom-in zoom-out approach for shaping technology development and implementation pathways.
