Wanted GLI participants to test VR
In RECENTRE we are aiming to empower people to manage their lifestyle by developing a personalized, adaptive, and remote sensor-feedback system. In one of the Work Packages, we are using virtual reality (VR) to conduct experiential needs assessment for such a system that supports people with cancer or obesity. With the help of VR, people can experience realistic computer-generated 3D-environments through a headset. This allows us to visualize ideas for future technologies which are still in development and give patients an idea of how using such technology would look and feel like in their daily lives.
A VR environment that simulates a future home was developed for this study. Participants can interact with different experimental variations of the sensor-feedback system in this VR environment. The experimental conditions differ in the obtrusiveness of sensors and framing of the lifestyle feedback.
An appointment would only require 45 minutes. Some participants will be asked to be interviewed about their experiences, which would require an additional 45 minutes.
While collaboration with the Helen Dowling Instituut, psychologische zorg bij kanker is ongoing and allows us to recruit people with late effects after cancer treatment, patient recruitment for people with obesity is at an earlier stage. We are now looking at Combined Lifestyle Interventions (In Dutch: Gecombineerde Leefstijlinterventie (GLI)) to recruit people with obesity.
- Are you an accredited GLI lifestyle coach or another healthcare professional who works with GLI participants and interested in helping us improve care for people with obesity? Then please get in contact with the study team
