Technological breakthroughs are only valuable if they make a tangible difference in healthcare practice. This is the central theme of the TechMed Event, organised by the TechMed Centre of the University of Twente on Thursday, 6 November. The annual event brings together researchers, healthcare professionals, companies, policymakers and educators to explore how medical innovations can improve patient care.
Beyond the Breakthrough â Creating Impact Together
Under the annual theme âBeyond the Breakthroughâ, the event focuses on the crucial step from innovation to implementation. âA promising technology on the shelf does not necessarily translate into better care,â explains the organisation. âIt is the collaboration between all links in the chain, from fundamental research to the final application, that ensures innovations actually reach patients and make healthcare smarter, more personalised and more effective.â
The day begins with keynote speaker Danina KapetanoviÄ (University of Waterloo), who will present her vision of the âHospital of the Futureâ and showcase CareNext, a coalition that integrates digital innovation, clinical practice and policy to create future-proof healthcare.
