Top Clinical Hospital Medisch Spectrum Twente (MST) and the University of Twente (UT) are taking a new step in their long-term collaboration. Today, both organisations signed a new cooperation agreement. MST and the UT have been collaborating for years in the fields of education and healthcare research. With the renewed agreement, they aim to further intensify their collaboration, with a clear joint ambition: Twente as a region renowned for top clinical hospital care and a strong academic MedTech profile.
"With this collaboration, we ensure that patients in Twente will continue to have close-to-home access to top clinical care in the future,â says Miriam Vollenbroek-Hutten, member of the board of directors of MST. "Together with the UT, we invest in healthcare knowledge, training and innovation."
The renewed agreement emphasises three pillars: groundbreaking scientific research, innovative education and training, and accelerating healthcare innovation.
In this way, joint research themes and long-term research programmes will be developed, with opportunities for additional funding and new PhD students and postdocs. Innovation will be encouraged, with a focus on faster testing, validation and implementation in practice. In the field of education and training, work is underway to develop new training courses for professionals and career paths. This includes opportunities for advanced training of medical specialists, as well as strengthening the role of technical physicians as the connecting link between technology and patient care.
