EPICON 2026: Epidemiology for technology

Thursday 25 - 26 June 2026
University of Twente

Healthcare faces major challenges. Patient populations are changing, pressure on capacity is increasing, and healthcare systems must adapt ever more quickly. In this dynamic environment, clinical epidemiology provides guidance: it reveals trends, effects and outcomes, offering direction for better care. True progress, however, arises when these insights are combined with technological innovation. For this reason, the University of Twente is organising the renewed clinical epidemiology conference EPICON 2026 (formerly the WEON conference) on 25–26 June 2026. This annual event, hosted by the Dutch Society for Epidemiology (VvE), brings together clinicians, researchers, policymakers, technological innovators and students who want to contribute to smarter, more efficient and future-proof healthcare.

From Insight to Impact in Healthcare and Technology

EPICON 2026 focuses on how epidemiology and technology can complement each other to enhance healthcare processes and improve care effectiveness. Key themes such as predictive modelling, real-world data, artificial intelligence, drug research, implementation, methodological development and education are integrated into a programme that challenges participants always to explore the connection with technology. Whether it concerns data-driven decision-making, digital innovations in clinical practice, developing new analytical methods, or the professional development of tomorrow’s healthcare professionals, all contributions emphasise the link between epidemiology and technological advancement. The conference thus serves as a bridge between education, research, innovation and clinical practice, on a regional, national and cross-border level, including collaboration with partners in Germany.
