As Professor and Chair of Heat Transformation Technology at the Process and Energy Department of TU Delft, I lead research and education on thermal technologies that drive the energy transition. A central pillar of this work is the commodification of heat—advancing innovations in storage, recovery, and transformation to position thermal energy as a valuable, tradable resource.
Our group translates fundamental research into scalable, industry-ready solutions through close collaboration with industrial and societal partners. We serve as a hub for thermal innovation, connecting high-level science with practical application in heat recovery and transformation, thermal energy storage, refrigeration, renewable energy, and system integration.
As a Management Team Member of 4TU.Energy, I support the collaborative ecosystem across the four technical universities and beyond. By strengthening synergies between academia, industry, and society, we contribute to the development of next-generation thermal solutions and the engineering talent needed for a climate-neutral future.
