I am an assistant professor of Multi-Scale Integrated Energy System Design at TU Delft, within the Energy & Industry section of the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management. I lead research on computational methods to support the design of socially viable and technically resilient systems across scales, from districts to countries. For instance, I develop optimisation algorithms for energy system models that generate a wide range of feasible design alternatives, from which stakeholders can identify trade-offs and reach practically viable consensus solutions. I also work on open-source energy system modelling software, energy demand simulation, and other research methods that support the practical realisation of fast, deep and resilient decarbonisation.
I hold a PhD in Energy Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and have been a visiting researcher at ETH Zurich and University of Liege/KU Leuven. I joined TU Delft in 2021 as a postdoctoral researcher, and I became an assistant professor in 2023. At TU Delft, I am also part of the cross-faculty PowerWeb Institute, which aims to design intelligent, integrated and inclusive energy systems, and I lead the ‘Transforming Cities’ task within the Urban Energy Institute.
