Study Plan

The 4TU.CybSec master specialisation program offers a large variety of courses enabling students to select a highly individual course program.
4TU Delft
4TU Eindhoven
4TU Twente
4TU Wageningen

Rules

The following specific rules apply, in addition to, or as a refinement of, the standard rules that apply to every computer science master student.

In Q1 the student agrees a study plan with the program mentor (Christian Doerr in Delft, Andreas Peter for EIT students, and Pieter Hartel for all other students in Twente). If necessary, the study plan can be revised later, in consultation with the program mentor.

Delft

Students should select:

  • CDA, CRM, NeS-Delft, Crp, MCS, and PAS;
  • at least one out of ANS-Delft, ASA, BCE-Delft, Bio, DiA, FDA, PET, Q101, Q201, SDM, STR, SeV, and SyS.
  • at least four out of CoE, Cap = {CpS, CpE, CpB}, CCS, CSM, eLaw, and EoS.
  • other courses as agreed with the program mentor.

Twente

Students should select:

  • CoE, CRM, InS-Twente, Crp, and Sos;
  • at least three out of CDA, PET, SDM, SSH, SeV, SyS, SyV;
  • at least two out of ASA, BCT-Twente, Bio, MaL, Q101, Q201, STR;
  • at least three out of Cap = {CpS, CpE, CpB}, CCS, CSM, eLaw, and EoS;
  • other courses as agreed with the program mentor.

Choosing technical courses

It may be helpful to consider the following classifications of the technical courses:

Level

Please choose introductory as well as advanced courses, and make sure that you include the prerequisites for all courses that you select.

  • Introductory: Crp, InS-Twente, Nes-Delft, PAS, and SoS;
  • Advanced: BCE-Delft, BCT-Twente, ANS-Delft, CDA, PET, SeV, SyS, and SSH.

Focus

Please choose at least an introductory course from each of the four technical focus areas so that you have solid basis, and feel free to deepen your knowledge in a specific focus area.

  • Network security focus: Ins-Twente, NeS-Delft, ANS-Delft, and SSH;
  • Software security focus: SoS, PAS, SeV, and STR;
  • Data security focus: Bio, Crp, CDA, PET, Q101, Q201, and SDM;
  • System security focus: ASA, BCE-Delft, BCT-Twente, and SyS.

Overlap

Please be aware that some courses overlap.

  • ANS-Delft is rated at 10 EC because it includes NeS-Delft.
  • BCE-Delft and BCT-Twente overlap and cannot be taken both.
  • InS-Twente, and NeS-Delft overlap and cannot be taken both.
  • SoS and PAS overlap and cannot be taken both.

4TU.CybSec Certificate

Computer science master students who take at least 80 EC cyber security related credits for courses and the final year project will be considered as cyber security professionals and they will receive an appropriate certificate to testify to this accomplishment.

Study plan forms

4TU.CybSec master students can download and complete an individual study plan form from Twente or from Delft. EIT-Digital students in Twente can download an individual studyplan form for the Entry year or the Exit year.

Once completed please discuss your study plan with the program mentor.
