Two projects have been awarded funding through the 4TU.NIRICT Community Funding call

Tuesday, 4 November 2025

We’re thrilled to announce that two outstanding projects have been awarded funding to strengthen collaboration and innovation across the Dutch ICT research community:

πŸ“’ Systems Meet AI: Driving Innovation in the Dutch Society

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and networked computing systems are becoming increasingly interdependent. Powerful and efficient systems are needed to support AI applications (Systems for AI), while AI can enhance the design and operation of these systems (AI for Systems).

Achieving breakthroughs in domains such as healthcare, smart industry, mobility, smart farming, and sustainable ICT requires close collaboration between AI, data science, computer systems, and network experts.

This initiative aims to strengthen collaboration across these fields and foster innovation at the intersection of AI and Systems, focusing on robust, efficient, and explainable technologies for the future. πŸŒπŸ’‘

πŸ“’ Towards Democratized Academic LLM Hosting

The funding supports a full-day workshop at TU Delft dedicated to strengthening the Dutch community working on Large Language Model (LLM) inference infrastructure.

The workshop will bring together initiatives from across Dutch institutions β€” including Delft, TU/e, VU, WUR, and SURF β€” to align efforts, share knowledge, and explore collaborations.

A central focus is linking infrastructure choices (eg, utilization, deployment models) to electrical engineering priorities in hardware efficiency, power-aware design, and sustainable operations. It lays the groundwork for a coordinated, sustainable Dutch ecosystem in responsible open LLM hosting.

πŸ‘ Congratulations to both project teams for their inspiring initiatives!
