Femke Buitelaar wins 4TU+.AMI prize of the 2025 MATH+ Advent Calendar
Each year, thousands of people compete in theĀ MATH+ Advent Calendar, a digital mathematics competition consisting of 24 challenging mathematics puzzles, organised in December by theĀ Berlin Mathematics Research CenterĀ MATH+Ā in collaboration with 4TU+.AMI.
In total, 6205 people from 69 different countries participated in the 2025 edition of the MATH+ Advent Calender,Ā 3228 of whom are high school students. All participants of the calendar competed forĀ prizes that were handed out by MATH+ during a festive award ceremony in Berlin.Ā
Each year, the top-scoringĀ DutchĀ high school student receives a prize sponsored by 4TU+.AMI. The winner of this year's 4TU+.AMI prize is:
- Femke Buitelaar (Wolfert Lyceum, Bergschenhoek)
Femke solved 23 of the 24 puzzles correctly and scored an impressive total of 115 points, beating the the runner-up by just a few points. Pim van 't Hof (4TU+.AMI) travelled to Bergschenhoek to surprise Femke during one of theirĀ mathematics lessons and give her the prize.
