First Dutch Sequential Decision-Making Community Meeting Brings Together Over 50 Researchers
From 27–29 August 2025, the first meeting of the Dutch Sequential Decision-Making Community took place at EURANDOM, Eindhoven University of Technology. Organized by LNMB and hosted by the 4TU.AMI Strategic Research Initiative on Real-world Inspired Sequential Decision Making, the three-day programme brought together more than 50 participants from the Netherlands and across Europe.
Call for proposals - 4TU+.AMI Mathematics Education Innovation Funding
The Dutch government and universities emphasize the importance of innovation in education to increase impact, efficiency, and inclusivity. 4TU+.AMI aims to strengthen and support collaboration among the 4TU+ mathematics institutes in education innovation. To stimulate collaborative projects between the mathematics institutes of the 4TU.Federation that advance these goals, 4TU+.AMI invites proposals for funding in areas such as (but not limited to):
Brendan Kelly: empowering students to engage with mathematics
In May 2025, dr. Brendan Kelly —who is the Director of Introductory Math at Harvard University— visited the Netherlands upon an invitation of the 4TU.AMI Strategic Research Initiative MEReP. During his two-week stay he gave a keynote lecture at the yearly 4TU.AMI Education Day and visited all five institutes affiliated with 4TU.AMI, where he gave presentations of his work and discussed with teaching staff about educational perspectives and challenges. We grasped the opportunity to interview him during his visit at the Eindhoven University of Technology and hear about his vision on mathematics education.
Funding
To promote and strengthen mathematics in the Netherlands, 4TU.AMI offers funding for events and projects in the field of applied mathematics.
