People associate design with a pretty vase or a fast car. However, the field of Industrial Design goes far beyond shaping the looks of products. Industrial design also focuses on solving problems in society. And with changing behaviour. Designers do not work alone. In order to create good designs they find inspiration in other research fields. They cooperate with industry. They consult users intensively – after all they are the ones with practical experience. So industrial designers are in constant communication with society. They do this to ensure that their design fulfils its potential in society. These close cooperations with others are changing the field. Industrial design needs new methods: methods to jointly create ideas, methods to test a design and methods to involve users in the design process. Therefore designers also design for their own field. The exhibition Design Changes design is a triptych showing the newest developments in the field. Design Changes… is the annual exhibition of Design United.
