In this course, you will be introduced to the Research through Design method. You will be challenged to frame your own research, but also reflect on the broader use and implications of the methodology. The course will run over a period of five weeks, one day per week, where we meet each other in person for the first and last day of the course. The course contains the following elements:
- Lectures and practicals about RtD, where you get to know the method and are challenged to relate it to your PhD or EngD project
- Reflective lectures from the four TU’s, where we also emphasize similarities and differences in how and in what context the different universities apply RtD
- Guided discussions about how RtD can be applied to your project, with an emphasis on stakeholder inclusion and interaction
- An end presentation, including a discussion about the role of knowledge, the scientific rigor, and the ethical aspects of applying RtD
