5th 4TU-14UAS Research Day on Digitalization of the Built Environment

On Thursday, April 16th, 2026, the 5th 4TU/14UAS Research Day on Digitalization of the Built Environment takes place in Enschede and is co-organized by DAT Digitalization and hosted by University of Twente.

About this event

The Netherlands' Digitalisation Research Days uniquely blend practice-oriented academic projects from UAS with long-term research programmes conducted at 4TU. Participants bring together graduate students, doctoral candidates (PhDs/EngDs), lecturers, and researchers in an intimate and informal setting to discuss themes such as (geographic and building) information modelling, reality capture, simulation, interactive decision-making platforms, immersive and extended reality, predictive modelling, digital twins, and implementation of digital technologies.

In 2026, we invite delegates to the campus of the University of Twente, located in Enschede. Participation is free of charge, and limited travel sponsorship is available through 4TU DAT Digitalisation. If you are an educator, researcher, student, or professional affiliated with 4TU, 14UAS, another partnering Dutch institution, or an international institution interested in connecting with the Dutch research ecosystem, we invite you to submit your work before the deadline. Find relevant information about submissions below

Besides the usual parallel sessions, the programme includes plenary keynotes by leading policymakers, a prototype demonstration session, and an excursion. New this year is the ice-breaker pre-conference evening on Wednesday, April 15 (Enschede City Centre), where you can join for drinks, after a short digitalisation-themed presentation/excursion.
