A new article titled “Impact of High‑Techs on Firm‑Level Economic Performance and Engineering Resilience of Fruit and Vegetable Food Systems: A Systematic Review” has been published in Agricultural Systems journal by 4TU-Redesign members Oscar Kwame Sottie, Miranda P. M. Meuwissen, Ana Cristina Zepeda, Anand K. Gavai, and Maximilian Koppenberg. It provides a comprehensive synthesis of how emerging technologies shape the performance and resilience of fruit and vegetable (F&V) food systems.

The review systematically examines the scientific literature to assess the influence of digital platforms, artificial intelligence, automation, sensor‑based monitoring, and other advanced technologies on firm‑level economic outcomes and the engineering resilience of F&V food system. Across the studies analyzed, the authors find consistent evidence that high‑tech solutions enhance operational efficiency, reduce losses, improve coordination among system actors, and strengthen the capacity of F&V food systems to absorb, adapt to, and recover from disruptions.

By integrating insights from diverse empirical studies, this systematic review advances the understanding of technology‑enabled transformation in agri‑food systems. It offers valuable guidance for researchers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders seeking to design more resilient, efficient, and economically viable F&V food systems.
