Bárbara Soriano

I am an assistant professor in agricultural economics, statistics and business management at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and researcher at the Research Centre for the Management of Agricultural and Environmental Risks (CEIGRAM). I have the Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics and Natural Resources, MS in Sustainable Development and MS in Finance. Since 2017, I am investigating the resilience of farming systems in Europe, paying special attention to the resilience of extensive sheep farming systems in Spain. Prior to this project, I was involved in several agri-food research projects in which I gained knowledge on the functioning of the EU and in particular of the CAP and developed my analytical and quantitative skills. In addition to the research experience, I was working in the private sector in finance for 10 years. I am Spanish native speaker, fluent in English and have a basic knowledge of French.

My research interest turns around operationalizing the theoretical framework of farming systems resilience by defining indicators to assess resilience. Furthermore, to assess which strategies performed by farmers and other stakeholders in agricultural sector make the farming systems more resilient.
