4TU.NIRICT Research Community Funding

THIS CALL IS CLOSED

The goal of this funding scheme is to strengthen and support collaboration among researchers of the 4TU.NIRICT community, increasing the impact of ICT research in The Netherlands.

Application guidelines

In order to apply for funding, submit a proposal in the following format describing the five items mentioned below. The page limit is one A4.

1. Who are the applicants?

State i) title and name, ii) position, and iii) affiliation (section/department & university) of the applicants. For the contact person, also add email and phone number. At least one applicant from each of the 4TU.NIRICT affiliated university taking part in the application must be a scientific staff member.

2. What will the funding be used for?

Briefly describe the activity or other purpose of the funding. Personnel costs will not be funded, but otherwise there are no restrictions on what the funding is used for as long as it supports the goal of the funding scheme (see “Why” below). Examples of what can be applied for are support for bringing together communities of researchers around a common research theme (e.g., through organization of workshops and other joint activities), research collaboration (e.g., travel grants), dissemination of joint research, creation of joint proof-of-concepts/demonstrators, visitors, executing joint experiments, etc.

3. How much funding is requested?

The maximum amount of funding that can be requested is 25K. The requested amount should be in balance with expected benefits.

4. Why is it supporting the goal of the funding scheme?

This is the most important part of your proposal. Describe how the 4TU.NIRICT research community will be strengthened through the proposed activity and what the added value is of conducting this in 4TU context. If the target audience is more than the applicants (e.g., in case of organization of a workshop), describe what the intended audience is.

In principle only proposals from 3 or more TUs will be considered for funding. Deviation from this principle (i.e., an application from 2 TUs) will have to be motivated clearly. Applications from one TU will not be funded. Collaboration of the 4TU.NIRICT research community with other Dutch universities is also supported. We encourage in particular collaboration with WUR as new partner.

5. When will the activity be carried out or the funding be used?

The more specific you can be, the better. In case of a repeated or continuous activity, state the period and the end date. The funding should be spent no later than December 2017.

Proposals will be evaluated based on 1) the extent to which the proposed activity supports the goals of the funding scheme (“Why”), 2) specificity of the proposal regarding “What” and “When”, and 3) appropriateness of the amount of funding requested (“How much”).

Procedure

CLOSED Applications can be submitted continuously until October 31st 2017. Funding will be awarded on a first-come-first-serve basis until the budget is exhausted. Applicants will be notified of the decision on acceptance within four weeks from submitting the application.

Please submit the proposal conform the above format as a one A4 pdf file by e-mail to Eveline Vreede e.m.vreede@tudelft.nl

If funding is awarded, we request a publicly available report on the activity (e.g., in the form of a website featuring a written and/or visual report, a short movie, etc.), and a declaration of expenses to be sent to Eveline Vreede, within one month after the funding has been used.
