Together we strengthen the ICT research community of The Netherlands. Join us for the 4TU.NIRICT Community Day 2017, November 22, in Grand Hotel Karel V Utrecht.

4TU.NIRICT has received funding to continue as 4TU Research Centre for the period 2018-2021 to support our community building activities. This community day marks the start of this next phase. Your valuable input is needed to determine how we further shape and strengthen our community and make optimal progress in the coming 4-year period. All sessions will be interactive, with pitches and presentations from your 4TU colleagues, and plenty of opportunity to engage in discussions.

Report by the 4TU.NIRICT board on the aims of 4TU.NIRICT, an outlook towards 2018-2021, and an overview of its past and ongoing activities.

14:00-15:15 Community building 2018-2021

Pitches by several 4TU.NIRICT research community projects on their experiences in building a community.

Roundtable discussion in which amongst others the following questions will be addressed: What characterizes a strong & inclusive 4TU ICT community? How did the 4TU.NIRICT research community funding throughout the years help to build this community, both regarding research and education? What are good practices, and what could be done better the coming years? What role should the 4TU.NIRICT board have in community building?

15:45-17:00 Position of ICT research community amidst policy developments

What binds us in the content of our research? How can we operate more effectively as a research community in the context of (inter)national policy developments and what role can you take as researcher? And as stronger connected ICT research community? What do you need to take up this role? We will start with an overview of recent developments regarding research frameworks such as Digital Society, NWA, Topsectoren, and the UN sustainability goals. After this a roundtable discussion addressing whereto we see the 4TU ICT research community develop amidst all frameworks and (inter)national policies?

17.00 - 19.00 Networking drinks and bites with ICTng
