4TU Wageningen

The Intelligent Virtual Agents 2015 Doctoral Consortium was held on Monday, the 24th of August, two days before the main IVA conference (26th of August - 28th of August, 2015).  The session was chaired by Khiet Truong and Hannes Högni Vilhjálmsson.

The doctoral consortium offers PhD students the opportunity to discuss and present their research plans and their progress to peers and experts in an interactive way.

Five phd students presented their work on virtual agents and turn-taking, synchrony, affective decision-making, e-coaching for stress treatment and scenario generation through natural language understanding. Dirk Heylen, Catherine Pelachaud, and Joost Broekens were invited as experts to provide feedback to the students and to discuss their research. Although Hannes was unfortunately unable to attend the Doctoral Consortium physically, he did join through Skype and gave very useful tips to the students!
