On 11 June Dr Martijn Wisse, associate professor and one of the founders of the TU Delft Robotics Insitute, was present at Greentech 2014. On this two-yearly international fair for professionals in the horticulture industry, he presented the prestigious ‘Factory in a day’, a robotic system that can be set up and made operational in 24 hours and is flexible, leasable and cheap. This project makes advanced robot technology available for small and medium sized enterprises.
Recently Amsterdam RAI has been introducing a so called ‘Innovation Lab’ on its big and international fairs. On this special part of the fair, RAI wants to place technological innovation under the spotlight. Therefor scientists from the 3 Dutch Universities of Technology are contacted to take part in this Innovation Lab.
Wisse toured Greentech 2014 looking for presence of robotic technology within current agrotech systems. You can find a short impression here. As the de facto robot expert he concluded that bits and pieces of robotic technology can be found here and there, but the real breakthrough has yet to come.
