Can applications be found for future materials that can adapt their physical characteristics like shape or elasticity? Students have developed various approaches in which changes to material characteristics are simulated. There is a toothbrush for instance that adapts to brushing habits. If the user brushes too hard, the brush becomes more flexible to compensate for this.
