Smart textile services
Intertwine the traditions from the textile industry with the newest technology and what you get is the best of both worlds. That is a starting-point of Wearable senses, one of the themes within Industrial Design at the TU/e. Bedtime stories and Vigour are two showcase results of an intensive cooperation between designers and people from the textile and electronics industries.
Bedtime stories
Textiles can tell stories. Whereas a Scottish tartan shows the identity of your clan, the complex patterns and symbols in Estonian dress reveal much about the wearer’s background. Designer Kristi Kuusk translated the tradition of storytelling through textile to a modern variation. The duvet shows the scenery of Little Red Riding hood. And when looked through a tablet, the main characters of the story are discovered. Parent and child can travel together through the fairy land.
