In the old days a light was either on or off. Now it can also vary in intensity and colour. Traditional on-off-buttons therefore no longer suffice. Serge Offermans and Remco Magielse develop new lighting and control systems.
For example, the wall-mounted light pad reacts to touch: a sharp stroke results in bright light. The cube serves for setting the mood of the light. And using a tablet an office worker can create his preferred settings.
The designers installed even the earliest prototypes in real offices. “We learned so much from the users. After every adjustment or addition we carried out new tests.” In this way the lighting installation evolved into what it is today. And even this design is not ‘finished’ – it keeps growing.
