HEErI Book Series

Tuesday, 17 March 2026

A new book series on Higher Engineering Education research and Innovation has just launched, initiated by the 4TU Centre for Engineering Education and published via TU Delft OPEN Publishing. HEErI focuses on evidence-informed innovation in higher engineering education, connecting innovative teaching practices, education research, and educational policy making and is aimed at engineering educators, course and programme coordinators, educational managers, educational policy-makers, and educational scientists. The series shares new insights on curriculum design, engineering pedagogies and didactics, and engineering education policies.

The first volume, Adaptive Performance, Conceptualisation and Mechanisms in Engineering Education, focuses on how engineers learn to handle new and complex problems in changing environments. It looks at what adaptive performance really means, how it develops, and how educators can support and assess it in both classrooms and workplaces. The book brings together international contributors and offers inspiration for designing learning environments that prepare engineers for real-world challenges.

Follow along for the next volumes in the HEErI series and get involved. CEE is looking for contributions from the 4TU engineering education community and beyond for future books. Find out more on this page. If you want to stay informed, you could sign up for our newsletter, join us on LinkedIn or contact us directly. Publication date to be announced soon.
