Various life science programmes of Wageningen University have to deal with increasing student numbers. This fast increase threatens especially the quality of practical training in experimental disciplines. We already recognized a decrease in feedback moments and less attention to skill development in data storage and reporting. A number of chairs already started activities to make lab skill education more efficient by applying online tools. If best practices are optimized and rolled out throughout the whole experimental study track the quality will remain high even with increasing student numbers.
We want to develop a well-linked study track for lab skills (in chemistry and molecular and cellular biology), experimental design, reporting and data storage throughout the whole curriculum of life science programmes.
